A lot of children are overweight for the same reasons you discuss. Also fast food, processed food, sugared drinks, microwaved foods, conviennce foods cannot be avoided all together for most. If she is from a lower socioeconomic family, good foods can be simply to expensive…and the cheap foods are low in nutrients…so children eat their asses off simply to consume adequate nutrition…and end up with extra calories.
There is no diet plan you or a 15 year old will follow that someone can give you. Have her make a food diary and go over it with her every week. You sound like you have enough knowledge to guide her…and with your help…encourage meal replacements for things that show up on her diary. Food choices are taught to all of us over a long time…we werent told one day how to eat the rest of our lives…and it not realistic to expect a book or a meal planb to change it for long.

I want to help you help her because I have a 13 year old god daughter who went through nearly the same thing… as soon as puberty hit she started starving herself and dropped a ton of weight from around 130 down to less than 90
you have to let her know that the more active she is in sports without getting any of the required nutrients for daily functioning she will collapse on the field…
breakfast should be the most carb packed meal of the day as you need energy to keep you awake and functioning throughout the day

here are some suggestions for breakfast…
Maple and brown sugar or apple cinnamon oatmeal
bowl of cereal with sliced fruits inside the bowl (any cereal as long as its not loaded on sugars)
small bowl of rice with a scrambled egg
make sure she drinks a glass of OJ for breakfast too for the vitamin C

for lunch
since she is in school you should have her parents pack her lunches instead of eating the cafeteria foods
any kind of sandwich no mayo with lettuce and/or tomatoes
preferably wheat bread
any kind of salad as long as it doesn’t have too much dressing
an apple or banana along with the sandwich or salad
a 20 oz bottle of water to wash it down (no sodas at all)

when she comes home from school she should have some snack such as a sliced apple or a handful of baby carrots or even celery with peanut butter
to hold her off until dinner
come dinner time she should eat whatever that’s being served regardless

make sure she doesn’t eat up to 2 hours before going to bed
if she usually falls asleep around 11 or so she should have another small snack at around 9 just to prevent her body from going into starvation mode in her sleep

sorry about no caloric information or any of that sort of thing… I’m no expert but I just wanted to give some ideas to try to help you
i hope she does well and drops some weight the healthy way in the next few months
